91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ and UAE to strengthen diplomatic relations |15 December 2020
President Wavel Ramkalawan met with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday to further discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations for the mutual benefit of its peoples.
On behalf of the country, President Ramkalawan conveyed his appreciation for the continuous support provided by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government, particularly in the field of health and in combating the Covid-19 pandemic namely through the recent donation of 50,000 doses of the vaccine against the Covid virus for the people of 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ.
President Ramkalawan also met with former President of 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ, James Michel, who congratulated him on his electoral victory and the subsequent successful transition.
Former President Michel vouched to continue working for 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ especially through his foundation in advancing efforts in the domain of the Blue Economy.
Yesterday, President Ramkalawan was to meet Seychellois nationals currently working in the UAE as well as other members of the 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ community living there.
While in the UAE, the head of state is scheduled to meet with the president of AMSA Renal Care, Abdullah Ajmal, the main organisation that provides dialysis treatment to the 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ Hospital in order to further discuss the existing contract.
President Ramkalawan will also avail of the opportunity to visit the 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ embassy in the UAE accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde, where he will be having talks with the head of the 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ mission, Ambassador Jean-Claude Adrienne.
