ISS to launch Model United Nations in 91㽶Ƶ |16 October 2020

The International School 91㽶Ƶ has announced the launch of a new student leadership and academic programme called ‘Model United Nations’.

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation and academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches participants speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. It engages students and allows them to develop deeper understanding into current world issues.

Hundreds of thousands of students worldwide take part every year at all educational levels. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, business and the arts – including at the UN itself – took part in Model UN as students.

This is the first ever launch of MUN in 91㽶Ƶ. “Our students and staff have done an outstanding job in just a few weeks developing the structures and processes to deliver a new and exciting leadership and academic programme for our students, crafted with knowledge and passion, combining ISS educational expertise and student quality with the acclaimed MUN programme,” said Elodie Vallantine, head of secondary at ISS.

“With MUN, ISS now has the best programme in 91㽶Ƶ to develop future leaders,” she added.

The official launch will take place at ISS on Thursday November 5, 2020.

In the coming months, ISS will start rolling out this programme to students from state and private schools with a vision to provide students the opportunities to attend similar conferences abroad.

This provision will consolidate ISS status as a leader in educational innovation in 91㽶Ƶ.
