ISS Christmas market a success |17 December 2022
After three years of it not taking place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the International School 91㽶Ƶ held its Christmas market on Friday December 9, 2022.
The event was successfully organised by the Parents Teachers Association.
From 4pm, pupils, parents, teachers and external stall holders came into the school grounds to set up their stall with items for sale or activities for visitors to take part in.
Stalls with items for sale included books, toys, clothing, food, drinks, scented soaps and toys. Stalls with activities included pillow fighting, nail painting, sponge throwing and video game playing.
Outside the gate, a line of enthusiastic visitors including parents and pupils were eager to come in wanting to experience the atmosphere of the Christmas market and browse through what was available.
At 5pm, a crowd of keen visitors made their way inside the school compound towards the school’s picnic tables surrounded by the different stalls.
Christmas songs, choir singing, animated chatter and happy laughs could be heard. Children were running around seeking toys and snacks. They especially enjoyed the candy floss and popcorn stalls. The stalls were booming with people, all trying to find that special gift for that special someone. The school was beaming with a great and cheerful atmosphere.
Around 7.15pm a surprise for one and all, singer Auspicious graced us with a few songs. The visitors danced and sang to the tunes, with the disco lights shining along to the beat. It all made for an awesome evening: merry people and wonderful music were a great way to bring on the joy of the festivities.
“It was a welcomed event. A great chance for parents and teachers to be able to mix and socialise after the Covid-19 restrictions. Having over 40 stalls was amazing. The stall holders were thrilled with the turnout of visitors. It was a great success,” commented PTA member Brigitte Haworth. “To note, the funds raised by the PTA will go towards the set up and decoration of various projects including a careers room at the International School, which will be a first in 91㽶Ƶ.”
