President Wavel Ramkalawan received Bishop Denis Wiehe for a courtesy call at State House yesterday morning.
Bishop Wiehe, as the former Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Port Victoria, now bishop emeritus, is currently visiting 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ from Mauritius, where he is based.
The meeting with the head of state was an opportunity for the President and Bishop Wiehe to discuss current affairs in 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and exchange views on various topics pertaining to the wellbeing of the country and the people.
President Ramkalawan said Bishop Wiehe remains a dear friend of 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and his continuous support and advice to the country is always welcomed and appreciated.
Bishop Wiehe during his tenure has played an instrumental role in improving relations with all the other religious denominations in the country through his role as the chairperson of the 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Interfaith Council (Sifco) since its inception.
