Takeaways, more precisely shops or restaurants that cook and sell food for people to eat somewhere else have become a common trend in the Seychellois culture, catering mostly for lunch during weekdays while also offering services during dinner time.

Since Tuesday, customers have a new option added to their list of outlets, as well new dishes and flavours courtesy of the newly-opened Bie’s Takeaway situated in the Boston House building in Victoria.

Other than walking in to buy their food, customers can order in advance, especially in batches for groups or organisations.

According to owner Fabien Belle, opening a food outlet was the second business option after having his long term goal set on opening a sports shop.

He explained that with the recent negative effect of the coronavirus (COVID-19), especially affecting the sports world, he decided to venture into food as there is always a need for such service locally.

Describing himself as a ‘jack of all trade’ in the catering industry, Mr Belle who has had training in kitchen and food safety said he is very optimistic as he already has his clientele who are all eager to taste the new selection of food.

Regarding business competition, Mr Belle said he is up for the challenge as his menu is totally different from the existing ones and that the difference in the types of dishes will definitely be the key element in pushing his business forward.

“Publicity for any business comes through customers’ feedback, so it is therefore important to impress customers so that they can spread the good words regarding your services,” added Mr Belle.

Bie’s Takeaway opens from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday while on Saturday the service will be extended until very late in the evening.

Mr Belle further added that Bie’s Takeaway will also provide catering services for private functions.
