Tourism club facilitators take part in workshop |22 February 2020
It has been one year since the launching of tourism clubs in all state and private schools on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue by a tourism coordinating committee comprising members from the tourism department, Ministry of Education and SHTA (91㽶Ƶ Hotel and Tourism Association).
To mark this milestone, a workshop was organised last week for all tourism club facilitators.
The workshop, held at the SITE auditorium, Mont Fleuri, was facilitated by Martin Kennedy, the chairman of the tourism coordinating committee.
During the workshop the participants were given an educational pack which gives an overview of useful ideas for teachers.
“The workshop is one of a series that we are running. The idea is to familiarise all teachers who are coordinating the clubs so they can get an idea of what their peers are doing and get to see various teaching methods,” said Mr Kennedy.
He added that they also work with the committee which oversees the club and get an injection of new ideas because the success of this club is vital to our tourism industry in terms of encouraging young Seychellois in choosing the tourism sector as a career.
In total there are 27 tourism clubs in public and private schools.
Through this initiative a number of activities and achievements have been recorded by the different tourism clubs during the past year. The aim of the clubs is to highlight the importance of tourism for 91㽶Ƶ.
