‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures’
Every year on April 7 we commemorate two important events. World Health Day which is at global level and Health Workers Day which has been adopted locally for many years now. The latter is an opportunity to show appreciation for health workers, whether they are clinical or support staff, for their hard work and dedication to improving patients’ health outcome.
In 2025, World Health Day celebrations kicked off with a year-long campaign on maternal and new-born health, initiated by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The campaign, titled ‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures’, is urging governments and the health community to ramp up efforts to end preventable maternal and new-born deaths, and to prioritise women’s longer-term health and wellbeing.
