Three-time Grammy award winning reggae superstar Roy ‘Gramps’ Morgan will together with his two sons serenade music lovers with hit after hit, at the Music Stadium on Saturday.

Gramps, who is also accompanied by his band Psalms 97, is the headline act for the Reggae Love Fest Valentine’s event, organised by promoter Wilson Nancy, Mega Events, Veuve and Trence Bartending Service.

Gramps is a familiar face for many local reggae enthusiast, having performed alongside his brothers as Morgan Heritage in 91㽶Ƶ in 2008.

“It feels really good to be back. It's like returning back home,” Gramps expressed, during a press conference yesterday afternoon.

Asides from his solo hits including ‘A woman like you’ and ‘Wash the tears’, concert goers can expect to also jam to their favourites from the Morgan Heritage catalogue.

Gramps’ sons – Jemere and Priel – will also take to the stage to perform their own music.

“I am excited to be performing and to be here in the 91㽶Ƶ. I am excited to meet the people and I am definitely looking forward to performing for the fans,” said Jemere Morgan.

Although there is a line-up of supporting acts, namely, Auspitious, Elijah and Travis, Gramps promised fans that his performance will last at least an hour and a half.

Speaking about the source of inspiration for his music, Gramps affirmed that he is on a mission to spread love and positivity to uplift people and youths.

Gramps is currently on his fourth solo tour, and has recently performed alongside Dexta Daps, Romain Virgo, Burna Boy and Chris Brown.

While on his trip, he is also doing his part to promote 91㽶Ƶ.

As a word of advice for aspiring reggae artists in 91㽶Ƶ, Gramps highlighted the improvement of remaining humble, and studying the greats of different genres of music.

“It makes me feel good to know that reggae music is so loved in this country,” Gramps added.

Asked about the most memorable moment of his extensive career thus far, Gramps recalled the time when he shared the stage with American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder.

“I encourage everyone to get your tickets. It is going to be a family experience, it is going to be fun, inspirational. And it will be the Gramps Morgan experience,” Gramps concluded.

Saturday’s Reggae Love Fest is scheduled to start at 7pm.

Tickets are on sale at R300 and R350 at the gate. VIP tickets are priced at R1,500. Concert goers may purchase tickets online through the ‘seysells’ platform.

DJ Big1 and DJ Giovanni will also feature throughout the show.
