Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj community donates blood

The Blood Transfusion Centre in partnership with the Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj (SKLPS) community of 91㽶Ƶ had a blood drive on Sunday as part of the centre’s ongoing campaign to sustain the blood bank and also support the community.

Orty (40) volunteers from the SKLPS community showed up to participate in the big blood drive, which kicked off at 8am. However, only 31 were able to successfully donate blood as six participants had high blood pressure, one had high hemoglobin level and two could not complete the process.

The Blood Transfusion Centre at the 91㽶Ƶ Hospital said it continues to work with different stakeholders and organisations to support its ongoing programme to ensure a constant supply of blood, thus helping to give quality health care.

The unit's senior programme officer, Elizabeth Banda, said this was a continuous process for supporting the bloodstock.

“It was a great success, well organised and everything went fairly smoothly,” said Ms Banda.

The unit, which is constantly recruiting new donors and encouraging them to become regular blood donors, has once again called on individuals and organisations to come forward and contribute towards this cause.
