Apex donates bins for cans and pet bottles

The handover of the bins

  • 500kg of garbage removed from various places by the company

In order to help keep our shores clean, Apex has made a donation of two bins, specifically for cans and pet bottles, to the Landscape and Waste Management Agency within the department of environment.

If used properly, these bins will come in handy for members of the public who use the regatta site at Beau Vallon beach. This donation is part of the ‘Ceres clean up project’ that was launched in June 2022.

Managing director of Apex, Eric Crutzen said his company is very keen to help keep 91㽶Ƶ clean. “Trash is a major issue for the world and unfortunately much come from the sea. We believe that it is everybody’s responsibility to help keep our environment clean and beautiful. As you may know we have been working very hard in the past months to clean up our beaches and trails. We are proud to say that Apex with its volunteers has removed 500kg of garbage. The major issue we discovered was a lack of bins resulting in a lack of disposing garbage properly.”

Mr Crutzen noted that this is only the beginning and Apex will keep providing similar bins to be placed in other public places.

Elected member of the National Assembly for Beau Vallon, John Hoareau said the beach is a highly frequented place and there is always a lack of proper bins. “We hope people will use these to discardtheir garbage properly and no looting will take place,” said Mr Hoareau.

Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment Minister Flavien Joubert thanked Apex for such a generous donation and noted that the company has been very much engaged in cleaning the environment. “They have contributed towards many cleaning projects and now they have contributed these bins specially for recycled materials. We hope that this will help educate the population about being more conscious about recycling.”

In the last six months, Apex has performed clean-up programs at the Beau Vallon beach, Anse Major trail, Anse Royale beach, Copolia trail, Au Cap beach and Salazie trail.
