91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Tourism Academy’s new cohort of students followed an induction process on Thursday at the International Conference Centre 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.
Management and staff of 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Tourism Academy (STA) in the presence of the principal secretary for Tourism, Sherin Franciswelcomed both students and parents to prepare them for what the academy offers, their responsibilities and what the academy will expect from them when they join.
PS Francis congratulated all the students and thanked them for choosing STA to further their studies. She expressed happily that the students have made a good choice in choosing the academy and thus the tourism industry.
PS Francis reckoned that this will be a new adventure for the students. She expressed that they will need to have a passion for the industry to develop a career in the field of tourism.
The students were made aware that in this particular field, they will not have an 8am to 4pm job, which is why their hearts must be in it, PS Francis emphasised. She added that they need to be made aware of this before they start.
PS Francis elaborated that the tourism industry is just getting back on its feet with the help of all its partners. She stressed the importance of the tourism industry and its economic ramifications and described the industry as our bread and butter (‘nou diber ek nou dipen’) and how fragile it can be.
During the presentation the students learned what STA is all about, academic information, student support information and code of conduct.
The management and staff of STA also mentioned that they are currently reviewing the courses and content on offer. The members of the academia accentuated the importance of communication between the school, students and parents. The prospective students received the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the structure of the academy before they start classes officially on March 21, 2022.
